The Val d'Orcia is an exceptional reflection of the way the landscape was rewritten in pre-reinaissance times to reflect the ideals of good governance and to create an aesthetically pleasing picture.
Celebrated by painters from the siennese school, the Val d'Orcia have come to bee seen as icon of the landscape which have profoundly influenced the development of landscape thinking.

Montalcino

On the hills before the valley leading to Maremma, stands the twon of Montalcino, of antique Etruscan origin- of which remain several testimonies.
Surrounded by woodlands of Mediterranean Bush and vineyards, it offers its famous products wine "Brunello" is the most famous, keeping whit tradition and quality there is also the cultivation of honey.
The village has characteristic alley ways, step and churches, whilts from the antique Fortiess, the views look towards the hills in the direction of Siena or twoards the sea.
It is said that it was Carlo Magno who laid the base for the construton of Sant'Antimo, which in its elegance and simplicity is one of the most beatyfull Romanesque Abbeys.
